Curriculum Online

In November 2002 the DfES launched Curriculum Online (COL) to enable schools to purchase digital learning resources across all subjects and at all levels of the national curriculum.

The DfES have released a ring fenced funding called electronic Learning Credits (eLCs) totalling £100 million during this academic year - September 2003 to August 2004. Speak with your Head Teacher or Local Education Authority for confirmation of how much you have left to spend. The government advises all schools to spend their allocated eLCs before the August deadline or schools may lose this money.

In January 2003, Charles Clarke announced an additional £100 million of Curriculum Online funding for each of the next three years. The first of these allocations has now been distributed to LEAs throughout England.

Each eligible institution will receive a "baseline" figure of £1000 plus around £10 for each pupil. All maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools are eligible. In addition to this, allocations are given to maintained nursery places in independent nurseries, special schools and pupil referral units.

For further information on spending your eLCs, visit www.curriculumonline.gov.uk
